We returned to the Salvation Army for more work on Wednesday, and this time we were entrusted with more difficult tasks relating to meal preparation. I think we all learned several things that day: carrotts can get really big, the residents at the facility are really friendly folks, and Darrian does a great Marilyn Monroe impression.

After our daily stop at the YMCA for showers, we wandered up Guadelupe Street to explore some of the funky local shops across from the University of Texas campus. Everyone found some vintage clothing that was at least fun to try on, and mark even found a jersey that coincided with our theme for the day (humility).

We started an evening tour of the lakes near Austin by heading to Chuy's Hula Hut for dinner, where we had Tex Mex with an island flair in a marina on Lake Austin.

After dinner, we wound our way through the hills outside of town and reached the Oasis, where you can pair a great dessert with the best view of the sunset over Lake Travis that you'll find. A beautiful ending to set the stage for our trip home and evening devotional.
