Let the work begin

After getting up at 6:30 for a continental breakfast, we drove the 30 minutes to our Habitat worksite in Summerville. Our supervisor, Kip, put us right to work and after a groggy start we made some real progress by the afternoon. There was a LOT of hammering to do, and we even got to raise a wall. And before you think we're amazingly productive, I should tell you that we were working on two different houses. We're not THAT good.

After a great lunch break provided by a local Presbyterian church and a clean up of the worksite, we headed home around three and hit the showers. For dinner we enjoyed fine dining on the waterfront at California Dreaming, then headed over to The Citadel for an unofficial tour (provided by a friend-of-a-friend who is currently a cadet there). After he had suficiently answered all our questions, we drove through downtown Charleston and walked along The Battery at the end of the peninsula. All in all, not a bad work day. Coming tomorrow...hey, we're pretty good at this "work" business.
