A day at the beach

After a VERY long drive on Sunday, we were thankful for a day to sleep in and relax at the beach. We stopped at Shoney's for breakfast and Barnes & Noble for summer reading, then made our way to Folley Beach for sun and sand. Well, more like clouds and sand. Some chose to body board, others made sand sculptures, and a few tried the South Carolina delicacy known as boiled peanuts.

After getting plenty of salt and sand on ourselves, we took some quick showers at the church and trekked over to John's Island for a cookout provided by Pam's sister-in-law. The food was excellent, and the boardwalk that stretched over the crab-filled marshes gave us a chance to walk off some of those calories. We headed home, full and happy, to end with a small group activity and get in some games before lights out. Coming tomorrow...the CYF learn that building houses can be hard work.
