Children's
Ministries

Grades PreK - 5

There are a number of ministries and events throughout the year designed to help our children to learn, serve, worship, and have fun together. Read on for descriptions of opportunities for children from preschool up to 5th grade to be involved in the life of our church.

Sunday School

We have several classes for children every Sunday morning from 10:00 - 10:50 to learn more about the Bible, the Christian faith, and how they relate to each of our lives. Classes are divided into: Toddlers and PreK (meets in the nursery), Grades K-2 (room 114), and Grades 3-5 (room 108). All children are invited to worship before Sunday School at our 9:00 contemporary service in the fellowship gym or afterward in the 11:00 traditional service in the sanctuary.

Allelluia Choir

A children's choir open to everyone in grades K-5 that meets on Wednesday evenings during the school year at 6:30 pm (immediately following our fellowship dinner). Dr. Sheryl Lane leads this group in the choir room with a variety of adults helpers, and the songs they learn are presented in worship on Sunday mornings throughout the year.

Chalice Bronze

All of our 3rd-5th graders (as well as middle school youth) are invited to participate in the Chalice Bronze bell choir, which meets most Sundays at 6:30 pm in the Choir Room. This choir works on musical pieces that will be presented in worship on Sunday mornings throughout the year. No musical experience is necessary, just a willingness to learn and a desire to make a joyful noise.

Summer Camps at Bethany Hills

Each summer, our youth and children have the opportunity to join with others from Disciple churches all over Tennessee for a number of camp experiences at our church camp, Bethany Hills. There are three age-based opportunities for children: Firsters Camp (completed grades K-1), Discovery Camp (grades 2-3), and Junior Camp (grades 4-5). At all camps we deepen our faith and grow closer to God and others through story times, small groups, games, crafts, worship, prayer, large group activities, and (of course) camp food. To find dates for camps in the summer of 2007, check out the Camp Schedule. For more info on our camp (including registration materials), visit the Bethany Hills section on the website of the Christian Church in Tennessee.

Other Activities During the Year

In addition to all of those things, our children are also involved with Vacation Bible School, Walk Thru Bethlehem, the annual Easter Egg Hunt, and other events too numerous to list or describe. Check out the Youth Calendar and Youth News to stay on top of things coming up for all of our young ones!
